Each year thousands of tourist are greeted by volunteers when they arrive to the second largest city in Denmark, Aarhus. The value created by the volunteers is the key focus in this project.
How do we measure the Value of volunteers?
Working with volunteers is a major part of the business model for many DMO’s around the world. Few have however, worked as professionally as Visit Aarhus when it comes to engaging their staff of volunteers (known as “Rethinkers”).
This project thus examined the value created by the volunteers. Not only for the many tourist that they meet, but also for themselves, and the companies that benefit from their services.
Results so far indicate that several issues comes into play when dealing with leading volunteers.
